Professional Expertise

Presently, Chief Learning Officer (CLO) for Work/Life Connection, LLC, Lani Carrow, is also a partner in Applied Planning International (API), Atlanta, GA and The Hunt Group, Wayne, PA. Based in both the Philadelphia, PA and St. Augustine Florida areas, Ms. Carrow travels to work at client sites, specializing in work/life balance, team operations and service/leadership performance. As Chief Learning Officer and principal for Work/Life Connection LLC, Lani Carrow provides organizations with performance consulting, staff development and group facilitation around the values of corporate work/life policies and practices. Ms. Carrow is a master level facilitator and an experienced leader in human resource management, one-on-one counseling, mentorship, appreciative inquiry and strength deployment education. Having spent her professional career engaged in all aspects of HR management, Lani Carrow is technology oriented and interested in challenging projects that ensure a strategic and integrated approach to organizational effectiveness through progressive staff and management knowledge and work/life balance practices.

Career Overview

Lani Carrow has participated in the growth of employee development from its inception as a continuous improvement HR activity to its current status as a proactive business partner, actualizing effective organizational performance. Since Ms. Carrow’s HR/HRD background spans the retail, insurance, education, entertainment, pharmaceutical, healthcare and banking industries, she brings operations perspective, service leadership, coaching expertise, career progression planning, workflow analysis, project management, diversity education and positive results communication as it affects the full range of work settings and grade levels.

Education/Professional Affiliations

Lani Carrow, enrolled in the Ph.D. program at Capella University, holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University, Immaculata, PA. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. Ms. Carrow is an ADA Certified Administrator (www.hrcertification), a Myers-Briggs (MBTI) Certified Practitioner/Otto Kroeger Associates, Washington D.C, Certified DiSC Facilitator, Resources Unlimited, Des Moines, IA, and a Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) Certified Facilitator, Carlsbad, CA. Lani Carrow has been a charter member of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) as well as a member of the Philadelphia Region Organizational Development (PROD), the American Management Association (AMA) and Counseling Organizations (CAPT) and (CCP). Lani Carrow is an awarded member of the National Association for Women. Work/Life Connection is an active member of both the Main Line Chamber of Commerce as well as the St. John's County Chamber of Commerce in Florida. Ms. Carrow is a noted speaker for business organization functions and industry conferences. Ms. Carrow has been promoted to Lead Faculty Area Chair for the College of Social Sciences at the University of Phoenix, Philadelphia Campus.

Project Work

As corporate project trainer, Lani Carrow provided professional development and coaching to leaders at all levels to many of the country’s premier banks, such as Commerce, Wells Fargo and Union Bank of California. As an independent consultant, Lani Carrow has generated customer service workflow studies through employee interviews and direct observation for National Liberty Corporation and QVC. Ms Carrow supervised the PNCBank company-wide employee satisfaction survey and follow-up report as one of the presenters to executive management. Recently, she was charged with the development, delivery and administration of Abington Memorial Hospital’s Diversity Competency Initiative that satisfied its 4,000-employee population and trained internal/volunteer trainers to support its 24/7 efforts. Ms. Carrow has been an instructor for Penn State University (CEBS Program) and Immaculata University (Applied and Organizational Psychology) as well as worked on corporate task forces to create personnel policies for on-site education with Temple University, Delaware County Community College, Immaculata University, Manor College, Montgomery Community College, and Villanova University MBA Leadership Labs. She chaired the Leadership Committee for PNCBank when it first formed PNC University and was instrumental in working with WHYY to establish a satellite option for Abington Memorial Hospital’s physician/education programs. Locally, Lani Carrow participated in the development and delivery of an Executive Mentorship Program for the City of Philadelphia to generate job progression planning as a result of the pending DROP initiative. Ms. Carrow most recently facilitated the two-day Educational Leadership Team Retreat for The School District of Philadelphia and a series of Positive Results Communications, Service Skills and Leadership training programs for the Department of Aviation, Philadelphia International Airport. As a partner in Applied Planning International, Lani Carrow has facilitated career development workshops for Centocor, Johnson & Johnson and its affiliate companies. Lani Carrow has directed the "Multi-Cultural Diversity" process for ECFMG across its US sites. Most recently, she worked as a subcontractor for First Gulf Bank, she facilitated soft skills training in Abu Dhabi and Dubai (UAE).

Lani Carrow is the co-author of the book "The New Normal" © 2001. This publication is a guide for achieving Work/Life balance. The "New Normal" message is directed to both employers and employees and has been available in workshop format to help audiencesimprove their understanding of work/life issues, offering practical suggestions andexercises to assure active learning and positive outcomes.
